Sacile

The Garden of the Serenissima

Known as the “Garden of the Serenissima,” Sacile enchants visitors with its Venetian charm, Renaissance palaces, and arcades reflected in the Livenza River. Highlights not to be missed include the Cathedral of San Nicolò, Piazza del Popolo, and Palazzo Ragazzoni.
In early August, the town comes alive with the historic Sagra dei Osei, one of the oldest festivals in Italy.

Polcenigo

Between crystal-clear waters and ancient traditions

Polcenigo is a charming village in Friuli, renowned for the springs of the Livenza River, its historic palaces, and the enchanting atmosphere where nature and architecture blend seamlessly. Strolling through its alleys and bridges, you’ll discover elegant residences, ancient churches, and a landscape that preserves prehistoric heritage, such as the pile dwellings declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is also famous for the historic Sagra dei Cesti, (The Basket Festival), an ancient tradition inspired by the grape harvest, which is held the first weekend of September. The “Basket Festival” has its roots in a centuries-old tradition linked to the autumn grape harvest. In the past, farmers would come to Polcenigo to purchase the baskets and tools essential for the season; today the event has become a joyful cultural celebration.
During the festival, you can admire master basket weavers at work, watch their skillful techniques with willow, reed, and wood, and even
purchase their handcrafted creations.

A must-see event to experience tradition and the true spirit of Christmas.
Visiting at sunset or after nightfall, when lights and Christmas melodies make them even more magical, is a truly special experience that combines art, tradition, and the authentic Christmas spirit.

Sorgenti del Gorgazzo

The Spring

The Gorgazzo appears as a small lake, about 20 meters in diameter, from whose funnel-shaped bottom flows
clear, cold water. This spring is considered one of the deepest in the world ever explored, due to its almost entirely vertical course. With an entrance depth of 47 meters, it has so far been mapped to about 165 meters and is fed by the overlying Cansiglio–Cavallo karst system.
Near the mouth of the cavity, at a depth of 9 meters, a statue of Christ has been placed. Thanks to the exceptional clarity of the waters and the lakebed, it can be perfectly seen from the shore on sunny days.

“Take the color of emerald,
that of turquoise, that of beryl,
immerse them in a bath of lapis lazuli,
so that everything blends together
yet still preserves its own uniqueness,
and you will have that portion of liquid sky
called the Gorgazzo
.”
Giovanni Marinelli 1846-1900
